Sometimes a big wave comes and knocks you down. You do a face plant in the sand and you get up, another wave comes and knocks you down; same result. They just keep coming and you just keep getting up. But after a while, the waves appear to be getting smaller; but if you are knocked down and you just keep lying there, you will drown.
Being self-sufficient is not the same as being isolated. You will have problems if you don’t engage fully in life. If you withdraw into yourself, your life will become stagnate. When you flow with life, you will be one with all things and will avoid stagnation and decay.
As society grows more intelligent there seems to be less happiness and more trouble because intelligence is not the same as wisdom. We forget the benefits of a plain and simple life. We become slaves to our desires and bodily demands. You can find happiness by being modest, simple and truthful. By this way of living, you will discover your original pure nature; that is the pure nature of the universe.
In a time of scanty resources, you must simplify. This will give you the inner strength for further undertakings. Draw on the strength of your inner attitude for what lacks externally. Even with slender means the sentiment of the heart can be expressed.
