When we act out or tell someone off there is some relief for the moment, but it doesn’t last. If we surrender and drop the story line, there is tenderness under all that harshness. By being kind to ourselves, we become kind to others and done properly, benefits us as well.
When you compete against other people or natural forces, compete using concentration and awareness, no anger or aggression. When not competing, do not forget to be kind. You must still have awareness and concentration and reflex, but your expression is different.
To interfere with nature is to try to seek control, this causes distress and produces exhaustion. Let things come and go effortlessly without desire. If you never expect results, you never will be disappointed. If you are never disappointed, your spirit never grows old.
Speaking clearly and acting simply in a nonaggressive manner with perseverance will help you succeed at any task. The idea that the yielding overcomes the rigid or the soft overcomes the hard is the wisdom permeating these ancient teachings.
Quote: Every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world.
