When we cling to thoughts and memories, we are clinging to what cannot be grasped. When one thought has entered and another has not begun, rest in that gap. Train in returning to that very moment, all compassion and inspiration comes from that gap.
Life requires leisure, the chance to sit and contemplate and an opportunity to respond to inner urgings. Find a place that is slow paced, where people are sensitive to nature. The time you spend there will give you a glimpse of life where there is restfulness and a natural sense of what is right.
Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench. If you seek people’s approval you become bound to them. Share with others these teachings and you will be immersed in the blessings that come from that. Do your work and step back, let it be, this is the path to serenity.
All things change, prosperity is followed by decline, evil can be checked but not permanently abolished it always returns. This idea might produce melancholy, but should not, it ought only to keep us from falling into the illusion that when good fortune comes to us it will not last.
