Our reaction to suffering is usually habitual, we feel cheated or resentful. Recognize suffering as suffering, then you can be curious and mindful of your reactions. We can then act without judgement and with intention and start to clean up our act.
Action must be guided by both intellect and experience. We learn from teachers, elders and others, but knowledge alone is not enough, we must also test what we learn in the world. It is not enough to have theoretical knowing, we need both to be wise.
Nothing is better than moderation. Only those who are moderate can prepare in advance; by preparing in advance, you accumulate a reserve. If you create a reserve you can overcome all obstacles. Once you have overcome all obstacles you have no limits.
In society conflicts are unavoidable, sometimes you have to give up your own interests and ideas to chime in with others. This way you can reach a common understanding and are able to coordinate actions, maintaining harmony in the community.
