Sharing your heart is a simple practice that can be used any time. When you encounter pain in your life, breathe into your heart and recognize that others also feel this. Whether it is a pleasant feeling or a burden, think of others, this training will benefit us tremendously and everyone else as well.
You may receive impulses or visions, but what you want to do is enter a state of consciousness. Rather than explore mystical states, the eventual object is to transcend all enslavement to perception. Only then you will be able to adequately judge what is real.
Abandon fancy theologies and imaginary ideas. A true teacher doesn’t act as a guru or messiah because he doesn’t want to keep people dependent on him. When people start to treat him as something special, he nips their adoration in the bud and points to their inner messiah.
When unfriendly forces are advancing, retreat is the right course of action. We are not running away, but are offering some resistance while planning for the time when the aggressive forces end. Anger and hate are not resistance; all resistance must be done in a thoughtful and considerate way.
