Some say our path is up the mountain, but in reality the path is down, not up. Instead of trying to transcend suffering, we should explore the unpredictability of insecurity and pain. This will awaken us from fear and there we will discover the love and compassion for ourselves and all others.
History is essential to understanding the present. We need to be conscious of how we came to this point in time, then we can plan the present and the future. If we strive for peace and harmony in the world, we need as much background information as possible.
Allow your work and your recreation to be one and the same. Do exercise that develops your whole being and not just your body. Serve others and cultivate yourself simultaneously. If you can follow these simple old ways, you will be continually renewed.
Growth does not need to mean that things get larger. When we learn to unlearn what no longer serves us, things may even get smaller and better. Do more with less and yet hold more of the world in your grasp. Our job is to give gains value, and not merely learn they are there.
