When we feel ready to give up, healing can be found in the tenderness of pain itself. In there, reach out and touch your genuine heart of sadness. This heart is always there for us, it can be brought to the light any time and it will glow as brilliantly as if nothing happened.
Self-cultivation is no different than any other endeavor. There are many self-proclaimed teachers that tell you that it is easy if you just follow them. A true teacher will guide you, and tell you that it takes consistent daily work and your own self-discipline.
Attaining virtue is done by self-cultivation and by relinquishing your negative habits and attitudes. With utmost sincerity and living in the real world, extend your virtue to all. Do not become attached to your accomplishments, don’t take credit for anything.
Look at things exactly as they are and when faced with an obstacle, rather than plunging ahead, be patient; otherwise you may become agitated. Patience is not mere empty hoping; it has the inner certainty of reaching your goal regardless how insurmountable the situation is.
