When you start to get angry, just pause, instead of acting in your usual habitual response, but at the same time being honest with yourself as to how you are feeling, you’re not suppressing anything. Suppression is not about being patient, being patient is having a gentle honest relationship with yourself.
You are the only one to blame for your habits and your shortcomings. Equally it is a mistake to lose self esteem simply because you have some flaws. Looking at your shortcomings and taking steps to eliminate them should be looked at as a dispassionate project.
Hope and fear are both phantoms that arise from thinking about yourself. When we don’t see the self as self what do we have to fear? See the world as yourself, treat the world as yourself, love the world as yourself, have faith in the way things are, then you can care for all things.
In life there are times when you must put yourself in order. During this time, you can do little for others, but your efforts are valuable because, by enhancing your powers and abilities through inner development, you can do more for others later on.
Quote: Compassion is what connects all things.
