To feel loving kindness for others we first must train in being honest, loving and compassionate towards ourselves. Without unconditional loving kindness for ourselves it is difficult if not impossible to genuinely feel it for others. No matter how we feel, we can aspire to be happy.
All facts you receive must be thoroughly examined and then you can apply distinctions that agree with the truth. In the same way we are compelled to examine the ongoing circumstances of our lives, doing this is part of our responsibility of being human.
The ancients used the term “not trying”, this doesn’t mean we should accept our current situation. They identify trying with forcing. To act without trying means to act without coercion. They suggest “being” as an alternative, to be the totally human person that our nature craves.
Times of abundance should be treasured and well used, for they cannot last as there is no room to grow or expand. You can slow down the inevitable decline that must follow times of abundance by careful management of your resources.
