Be kind to yourself, be kind to the quality of your being. When we feel bad in some way about ourselves, loving kindness towards ourselves is the way to treat this feeling. This becomes the basis for extending the same unconditional friendliness towards others.
A river is constantly new, the currents, the way it flows around rocks, the shape of its banks are subtly new at any moment. To know the river, we only need to experience it directly, to touch it, to swim in it, to contemplate it, to drink it. The same is true of life.
Abandon fancy theologies and imaginary ideas and do some ordinary daily work, such as healing. Do not become obsessed with circumstances or forgo awareness of them. Avoid following impulses that destroy the wholeness if your mind.
Energy that is renewing itself must be allowed to reinforce itself by rest. The return of health after illness, the return of understanding after estrangement, both must be treated tenderly and with care at the beginning so that the return may lead to flowering.
