When we are treated as something special, we think we are a big deal. Then the same person treats someone else special and ignores you, you feel insulted and humiliated. The idea is to live humbly and if rewarded accept it, and when not, accept things the same way.
Find the way that natural forces work and borrow their power. When you harness natural forces, you harness something of great power. However, we can only borrow their energy. When initiative and natural forces are combined there is true harmony.
There is nothing in the world that is softer or weaker than water, yet there is nothing better for subduing all that is harder or stronger. Observe how weak overcomes the strong, how gentleness overcomes rigidity. Yet this principal is seldom put into practice.
The ancients taught being humble was one of the highest virtues. Being humble is not about holding yourself back. Instead, acting positively by doing things with others cooperatively and harmoniously. Respect and treat everybody equally, this is true equality.
