Perseverance is a great virtue, but it cannot be cultivated without a goal or ending. It is good to look forward to the attainment of a goal. This provides perspective and is the steppingstone for the next endeavor. Start all endeavors with a goal in mind.
When things arise, let them come; when things depart, let them go. Don’t posses, don’t expect. Practice undiscriminating virtue, take care of those who are deserving, also equally take care of those who are not. These practices calm the mind and bring one into harmony with all things.
When you run into an obstruction and don’t know what to do, the best thing to do is to keep still, but this does not mean giving up. You are only yielding to a situation and waiting for a more auspicious time to react. An obstruction that only lasts for a time is useful for self-development.
Quote: Do not rush into any situation.
