Caring for things in moments of appreciation, in moments of gratitude and letting go of holding on to ourselves will start to awaken our heart. Whenever we connect with sorrow or joy, dropping our resentments and complaints will help us to awaken further.
It is up to us to sing as we feel moved by the overall song of life. Be like the birds, sing when the rains come and know what to do when winter comes. Birds sometimes harmonize with life or sing discordant tunes, but still sing with life whatever it brings them.
To cleanse oneself of contaminations such as anger, resistance or self-absorption, practice undiscriminating virtue. To practice virtue, give without limitations, without prejudice and without expectations. If your willingness to give is limited, so is your ability to receive.
If we wish to know what a person is like we need only to observe on whom he bestows his care and what side of his own nature he cultivates and nourishes. If we want to take care of all things, cultivate and nourish the good parts of your character and everything will be taken care of.
