When we start to interrupt calling ourselves names or patting ourselves on the back, we are doing something extremely brave. Slowly we move towards an open state, moving towards a place of no handholds, no footholds, no mind holds, giving us a feeling of freedom.
We can be thankful for the harvest and riches the autumn time of the year brings us, it is a time of festivals and celebrations as we prepare for the upcoming winter days. Look at the harvest moon and celebrate the yin of life, the peace, solitude and stillness of what is to come.
Practice the four cardinal virtues. First, reverence for all life; love and respect all beings and things. Second, sincerity; this manifests as honesty and simplicity. Third, kindness; being gentle with yourself and others. The fourth, service to others with no expectation of reward.
The ancient teachings are there to offer you guidance for favorable action in your daily life and, at the same time, to avoid misconduct that invites misfortune. Consulting these teachings will help you plan for the future and gives you a chance to study your past actions.
