When we feel inadequate or unworthy, we want to hold on to what we have and are afraid of feeling worse than we do already. The cause of our aggression and fear begins to dissolve when we move past this poverty of holding on to things, both physical and mentally.
At first your self-cultivation practice may seem quite restricting, but eventually you reach a point where everything flows quite spontaneously. Doubts fade away and every day is filled with new, fresh and wonderful insights, replacing the banality of ordinary life.
Whoever is stiff and inflexible is courting disaster, whoever is soft and yielding is a disciple of life. To save the world, develop an awareness of the subtle truths, merge your virtue with the universal virtue and extend it to the world without expectations of reward.
Spend some time in nature, do it early in the morning. This will help you keep your inner composure and clarity of mind to deal with daily events. Having inner composure and clarity of mind, and being free of selfish aims, will enable you to help people and the world.
