Self-importance hurts us, limiting us to our narrow world of likes and dislikes. We can question our beliefs, either we accept our fixed version of reality or we begin to challenge it. Practicing staying open, curious and challenging our beliefs is the best use of our lives.
If we are to accept life’s sad parts, we must also embrace its good parts. As long as you have behaved responsibly, there is nothing wrong with enjoying the best of what life presents to you. Act as if you are nature’s favorite, who is to say otherwise?
Unless you accept yourself, you cannot let go of yourself. Be like the forces of nature, when it blows there is only wind, when it rains there is only rain, when the clouds pass the sun shines. Open yourself, trust your natural responses and everything will fall into place.
We should not try to combat our own faults directly; the longer and harder we fight them, the more victorious they will be. Fighting your faults by making progress in the good is the only way. Take care not to become hardened and obstinate, remain receptive to impressions by continuous self-examination.
Quote: Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.
