When we are treated as something special, we think we are a big deal. Then the same person treats someone else special and ignores you, you feel insulted and humiliated. The idea is to live humbly and if rewarded, accept it and when not, accept things the same way.
Self-cultivation is a daily activity. No matter how much progress we achieve in one day, we must continue the next. Progress is often so subtle that we may feel the effort is futile, but we must keep doing it every day with the same enthusiasm.
Study the teachings of the ancients, dissolve all concepts of duality, be of service to others without expectation of reward and gently eliminate all obstacles to your own understanding of the subtle truth by being humble and maintaining unconditional sincerity.
When times are bad submit to them and remain quiet. It may be impossible to counteract the conditions of the time, it is not cowardice but wisdom to submit and avoid actions. A law of nature is at work, evil is not destructive to the good alone, but inevitably destroys itself as well.
Quote: The struggles we endure today will be the ‘good old days’ we laugh about tomorrow.
