A good time to start a self-cultivation practice is right now, do not wait for the right time. Even if you feel depressed, tired, or too addicted to your habits, start right now. The idea is to start with small things, but be consistent and add a little each day, the benefits are endless.
A social gathering with food requires participation, planning and attendance. This gives all participants a sense of belonging and accomplishment of something that could not be done alone. The cheer that we feel is essential both to the collective and the individuals involved.
There are three things to treasure: simplicity, patience and compassion. Simple in your actions and thoughts and you return to the source. Patience with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are. Compassion towards yourself, and your life will be abundant.
