When we act out or tell someone off, there is some relief for the moment, but it doesn’t last. If we surrender and drop the story line, there is tenderness under all that harshness. Being kind to ourselves, we become kind to others, this will bring us the relief that we want.
We are all on the path of life, it’s like climbing a mountain. We all use different paths to climb the mountain and use different methods to reach the summit. However, there is only one summit, there we no longer need our path or our method, it is where we all share the same vista.
Reflect whatever appears without judgement, whether it be a flower or a heap of garbage, a criminal or saint. Whatever happens is all right. Treat your own anger or grief just as you would treat an angry or grieving child, with compassion.
If you encounter hinderances at the beginning of an enterprise, do not try to force advance, but pause and take thought. Do not let anything put you off your course, persevere and keep your goal in sight. When there is a hinderance, sometimes relief will come from an unexpected source.
