When we think something is going to bring us pleasure or misery, the truth is we really don’t know what is going to happen. Letting there be room for not knowing is the most important thing of all. We don’t know if it is the end of a story or the beginning of a great adventure.
If you want to catch the subtle things in life you need to refine yourself, but then the coarser things of life become more obvious. If you don’t want the coarser things of life, the solution lies in going with the flow of life, uniting with it; then we no longer seek to hold on or reject.
Our ego is fascinated by the realms of the senses, going from one desire to the next, one conflict to the next, and one self-centered idea to the next. Keep your mind from wandering, keep to your original oneness, let events take their natural course and understand things by letting them go.
Being still when its time to be still and going forward when it is time to go forward, in this way rest and movement agree, this will help you quiet the heart. When you become calm, then you can turn to the outside world, as you no longer see the struggle and tumult of individuals.
