To relate to all others compassionately is a challenge, it means not shutting down on that person, but first not shutting down on ourselves. It means allowing ourselves to feel what we feel and not pushing it away. It means accepting every aspect of ourselves.
It is possible to live in the world and not be stained by it. Once you gain insight you dispense with the outer and inner world split. Your actions become no different then ordinary everyday actions, but they do not disturb anything, your inner being or the outer world.
Let go of all concepts, judgements, and desires and your mind will grow naturally compassionate. This way you can find the central truths in the art of living. When we learn to let go, the clearer our insight into what is beyond, good and evil, becomes.
If contention is not resolved properly it could lead to the use of force. Using force is evil and should be approached with the utmost caution. There are only two kinds of force that can be justified, overthrowing a tyrant and protecting a country from invasion.
