Impermanence can teach you a lot about how to cheer up. It’s okay if the thoughts of impermanence scare you, this can make you start asking questions and start you wondering. Maybe you are afraid of the most exciting things you have yet to learn.
The old have perspective, the young have vigor. We can learn from each other but cannot have what the other generation possesses. We are each shaped by our generations, and to transcend the limitations of our time is a rare occurrence indeed.
Knowing others is intelligence, knowing yourself is true wisdom. When you master yourself, you do not have to master others. When you know you have enough, then you are truly wealthy. Find your roots and nourish them and you will know longevity.
All things change, prosperity is followed by decline. Evil can be checked but not permanently abolished, it always returns. This idea might produce melancholy, but should not, it ought only to keep us from falling into the illusion that when good fortune comes to us it will not last.
