There is often a discrepancy between our ideals and what we encounter. It’s the rub between these two things, the squeeze between vision and reality that causes you to grow up, wake up, to be alive and compassionate. This rub is one of our most productive places on the spiritual path.
It is not enough to have a philosophy of life, but one must act. Action, not words, are important but you must have purpose. You need short- and long-term goals. Short-term goals help you determine each stage of your life. Long-term goals give us a perspective and continuity.
Your spirit is always with you, and you can use it in any way you want; it is inexhaustible. It is the infinite gateway to mysteries within mysteries. If you attempt to fix a picture of spirit in your mind you will lose it. Why not be content with simply experiencing it?
Adornment is not merely putting on external ornamentation, it is more important to bring out one’s natural beauty. You must cultivate inner beauty, the beauty of the soul. Otherwise, the more ornaments are put on, the ugliness of one’s nature is revealed.
