We are here to study ourselves no matter what we are doing: eating, talking, whatever. All the wisdom about how we cause ourselves to suffer, and all the wisdom about how joyful and vast our minds are, can only be found in our own experiences.
All we care about is our own survival and gratification. Doing this only surrounds ourselves with our own illusions. We do not see the world as it truly is, we ignore the dilemma of our own existence. Only when we realize our true nature do the illusions disappear.
When things arise, let them come; when things depart, let them go. Don’t possess, don’t expect. Practice undiscriminating virtue, take care of those who are deserving also, equally take care of those who are not. These practices calm the mind and bring one into harmony with all things.
We must respond to changes and explore the most suitable way to deal with them. Responding only to isolated changes merely leads to little success. By responding to all changes appropriately and within the whole process, success will be achieved.
Quote: If you neglect what is nearby in hopes of what is far off, you will be thwarted.
