We can think beyond our own little cocoon and help the troubled world. Not only will our friends and family benefit, even our enemies will feel the effects of peace. We have no choice but do what we can rather than living in unconscious self-absorption. We all have the inborn wisdom to do this and must.
All cultures know a mystical core that emphasizes continuing refinement, meditation and unification with the greater cosmos. You can do this self-cultivation in the midst of everything and be thoroughly sustained and rewarded by these practices.

If you are faced with a superior foe, it would be hopeless to fight him, retreat is the correct procedure. It is by no means a sign of strength or courage to engage in a hopeless struggle regardless of circumstances.
