The way to dissolve our resistance to life is to meet it face to face. When we resent the cold, feel its iciness and bite; when we resist the rain, feel its wetness. Cold and rain, many things we resist, will go on forever so look closely and open your mind; then all things can be appreciated.
The affairs of the world are sometimes referred to as red dust. This is our involvement in the world that is hard to brush away or hold on to. If we do not involve ourselves with the problems of the world then the mind will be still. If you want tranquility, practice withdrawal for short periods of time and you will find stillness and happiness for those times.
When you are centered and harmonious with all things you will find peace in your heart, then the world will be attracted to you. Intellectual knowledge exists in and of the brain; insight however is a function of the spirit and over time it becomes pure constant and unwavering.
When hostile forces are advancing, retreat is the right course of action. Through retreat you find success. We are not running away, but are offering some resistance, while planning for the time when the force comes to an end. Anger and hate are not resistance. All resistance must be in a thoughtful and considerate way.
