Wanting things to work out our way, on our terms, the more fear of people and things develop. Practice relaxing, letting go, rather than being irritable and fearful. Develop compassion for yourself and others, then you can start to relate to all things you fear and don’t like. You begin to relate to things when you’re not protecting yourself so much, you can overcome fear when you come to know its nature, just open up.
The precedents of the ancients are helpful, but only references. What matters is being pure, accept who you are, be who you are. Do not sigh over misfortune, whether you are happy or sad is up to you.
If we live economically in normal times, we are prepared for times of want, but placing to severe a limit on expenditures in normal times is not good. One’s life needs limiting, ordained by duty and voluntarily accepted. We can attain significance as a free spirit only by having limitations and determining what your duty is. Do not go beyond your own limitations, thus you can accumulate the energy for when the proper time comes to act.
