We are different from each other; our ideas of social etiquette are different from culture to culture. Rather than criticize each other’s ways or fight over our differences, be curious and strive to understand the other. Doing this we can achieve peace and harmony in the world.
A self-cultivation practice begins with the premise that you already have a pure spirit and only need to clear away the obfuscations. In our daily practice we must work on both our physical and mental bodies in order to achieve results that are long lasting.
Why scurry about looking for the truth? It is in everything right in front of you. You cannot discover it by accumulating more knowledge; knowledge creates doubt and makes you want more knowledge. Find the subtle truth inside yourself and be content in this knowing.
In times of abundance, treasure and use well the plenitude and sustain the times of abundance as long as possible. In times of decline, explore new possibilities rather than staying with your old ways. The key is not to dwell on old ways and trivial things.
